A Micronation?

The Sovereign Kingdom of Avalon is a micronation. Wikipedia cites this term as "entities that claim to be independent nations or states but which are not recognized by world governments or major international organizations", (Micronation, 2013, Wikipedia.org). With the many troubles that mankind has begun to face with the modern corporation-states, many people have begun to attempt to wrestle for themselves the personal self-sovereignty which they claim is theirs by natural right, the concept of micronations, and a new Tribalism has developed into a social push to an older, and tried and true phenomenon which mankind lived by for over 3 million years.
In common with these concepts, The Sovereign Kingdom of Avalon, is a Neo- or Urban Tribalistic organization which has at its focus a return to simpler times. Drawing from ancient Brythonic and Gaelic cultural texts, we seek to re-institute ancient Brehon Laws for a modern age.

What IS Avalon after all?
Avalon or Ynys Afallon (Cymraeg/Welsh afal, "apple") is a legendary island first mentioned by Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae ("The History of the Kings of Britain"), a pseudo-historical account published in 1136 CE (Common Era). Properly, Geoffrey called it Insula Avallonis (Latin) and in the Vita Merlini, Insula Pomorum. The traditional association between mystical islands of the otherworld and the dead and the apple can also be found in folklore. The Irish legends of the home of Manannan MacLir and Lugh Samildanach, Emain Ablach (the poetic name for The Isle of Man) derives from Gaelic aball, meanin apple, and is similar to the Middle Welsh name of Afallach, which "was used to replace the name Avalon in medieval Welsh translations of French and Latin Arthurian tales" (Avalon, 2013, Wikipedia.org).
Avalon has been connected as one of the last bastions for those spiritual-religious traditions now called, "The Old Religion". Historically, there has been connections of Avalon to Glastonbury, Wales; Burgundy, France; even the Isle of Iona, Scotland. Personally, just like the concept of Atlantis was not a specific place, I hold that the idea of Avalon was much more consuming than one simple spot on the globe. Avalon was that one place where the "real world" intersected with the Old Religion. In honor of genealogical connections to The Burgundian House of del Acqs through Queen Vivianne, a well-known High Priestess in matrilinear terms of the Old Faith of those people mislabeled as "Celtic", we draw upon the archetypal energies into our movement, as names hold power, all their own.

"The Old Religion" for a New Day
After all the years of religious persecution, from the Roman Empire to the Protestant Reformation, there have always been a few whom have kept the Tribal and Ancestral Traditions and Customs alive. Though these practices and philosophies have been molded and has changed form over the centuries, the genetic memory has persisted. Our ways have always been a "family affair", even to the point that many line of descent have claimed ancestry from the Gods and Goddesses themselves. In honor of these connections, a group of individuals, feeling the Call, have reformed to establish a NEW DAWN of these Mysteries, and to SUMMON those descendants of the OLD MATRIARCHAL TRIBES to pull AVALON from beyond the Mists.
A direct descendant of the ancient High Priestess, Vivianne del Acqs, Lady of the Lake and Queen of Avalon, has been chosen to enter the Sovereignty Mysteries, and accepted to "bear the Dragons". A Chief of Chiefs has been acknowledged by Council of Brehon Elders (Druids and ArchDruids), to be a PENDRAIG ("Head/Chief Dragon") and to reform the Ancient Laws, spread the Teachings of the Isle of Avalon, and to grant the formation of New Tribes in service to the Old Gods, Goddesses and Ancestors.
Many will claim that we are deluded at best, filled with a fantastic imagination, or even mentally unstable at worst. Truly, it does not matter to us, for we have the Knowledge and the Wisdom of previous Ages, and the wherewithal to achieve what has been asked of us. Have you received the Call?
